Steam mods not downloading to files

If you or your computer screwed up, and steam is now re-downloading the plethora of mods you had installed, then this discussion is for you! Last edited by Fraali ; 25 Dec, am. Be sure to paste it in the 'mods' folder itself and not in some already existing mod inside!

You could also open another Explorer window, keep them side by side, then click and drag the unpacked folder from one window into the other. It's all up to you. Each folder inside the 'mods' folder is a separate mod. Folder names starting with a number have been downloaded via the game.

These numbers correspond to the number in the URL of the workshop item. Rename it if it doesn't, so it will work for sure. You can now start the game and activate the mod in the menu. Go to Extras, Mods. Select the mod, tick it's checkbox behind the name so it moves to the Active list on top.

Then click Apply. Not all mods will be compatible with each other or with the current game version: if two mods alter the same thing, the mod on top of the mod-list will override the one below. Like a complete default materials.

The author probably didn't intend to mod those things at all, but put them in the mod anyway This can result in incompatibility when a new game update is released. Menu icons can go wrong, weather icons missing, or other weird sprite stuff.

Always keep an eye on the release date of a specific mod you want to try, because it might need an update to be compatible with the latest version of the game. Special files which can mess up when they get outdated include: complaints.

Sometimes the author isn't aware, so it's a good thing to leave a comment on the workshop item if you suspect a mod from being outdated. NylonWorms 28 Jun pm. Yiff Destroyer 10 May pm. The problem you all are facing is most likely the file type.

Steam as far as I know and the research ive done I have found that steam or at least prison architect doesn't read. MOD files anymore. None of these work. Thanks in advance. Last edited by Samodov ; 8 Apr, pm. Showing 1 - 15 of 17 comments.

I only had 2 in my favorites and one in my "Currently Playing" category when originally there were many. I'm going to restart steam once more. Before I do I am going to unsubscribe from some mods that haven't installed and delete ones that are installed as well as their files in the mods folder and workshop folders.

We'll see how it goes. I have no game updates going on, just the workshop is downloading. Alright I buckled down and reinstalled the games affected. Still is not working. Some mods updated which weren't previously but new mods still will not install.

The corrupt download cache is another common factor that triggers the Steam Workshop not downloading subscribed mods issue. To fix this issue, follow the steps below to clear the download cache in Steam. Step 1. Expand the Settings menu and select the download tab. Click on the Clear Download Cache button at the bottom of the screen and click Yes at the confirmation prompt to clear the locally download cache. Log in to your Steam account again and try downloading the mod.

Now, see if the Steam not downloading Workshop mods issue still persists. Many users reported that the Steam Workshop not downloading subscribed mods issue occurs when accessing the Steam Beta too frequently.

So, you can opt out the Steam Beta and re-subscribe to the mods to fix the issue. Select the Account from the vertical menu of the left pane, and then click on the Change button under Beta participation. Change the status to None — Opt out of all beta programs from the drop-down menu and click on OK to save the change.
