With each recovered piece of the box, she adds an additional section to the trickster tale in progress, spurring on your efforts to complete additional puzzles. The background music is top notch. Each area of the world has its own distinctive leit motif -- a Mozart-esque piano and orchestra in Europe, a salsa beat in Latin America, a stately koto and gong in Asia, a fusion of New World tunes in the USA and Canada -- and each is notable without being overbearing. Even while struggling with the most frustrating puzzle, I never once felt the need to turn the music off, although there is an option to do so.

Sounds within the puzzles themselves are crisp and appropriate. Pieces in the Rotascope "shloop" from one space to another, objects under the lenses in Lens Bender "shing" back and forth and "tok" into place. I especially liked the satisfying snap-lock sound of a correctly placed puzzle piece in Jesse's Strips. I know, it sounds nuts, but you'll understand when you play. It's always encouraging to see a new puzzle game, but a real treat to see one as well-designed and well-executed as this.

It isn't perfect, but it's close. Remember how crazy they were in some games back in the day, WWE Smackdown vs Raw springs to my mind. Anyway, the point of Fun With Ragdolls: The Game is to play as a ragdoll, screw around, fall, get blown up, and just have a lot of laughs in general. The visuals and the general presentation of the game is decent enough.

They have updated the game quite regularly so by the time you read this it could be even better looking than the last time I played it. The whole game has a really clean look to it all, it is low on details, but I think this is by design so that the game can be fast, crazy and allow you to have levels full to the brim with stuff. Perhaps due to lackluster puzzles and a high price tag, The Neverhood neither sold well nor won critical acclaim, despite being original and well executed.

Two thumbs up for this underdog, but be warned that all the appeal lies in the style here, not so much substance. If you play adventure games for the interesting puzzles and situations, give The Neverhood a miss.
